KSA Defense, LLC (KSA Defense) is a firearms instruction and personal preparedness business dedicated to teaching individuals that it is their responsibility to provide for their own personal protection. KSA Defense specializes in instructing those new to the shooting sports about using firearms as a tool for personal protection. In addition to firearms training, Mark Shuffield, Certified NRA Personal Protection Instructor, conducts courses for the Arkansas Concealed Handgun License. Mark is an accomplished marksman and has trained with leading firearms trainers in the country. Mark’s friendly demeanor and attention to students needs helps build confidence for his students. KSA Defense offers those new to the shooting sport a safe and professional atmosphere to learn the basics of firearms and accomplish their goals.

Mark Shuffield started the business after he personally was a victim of crime. On April 30, 2004 Mark came home with his family and found his home had been broken into. As Mark walked through the house every room had been torn apart and a pile of his families’ personal items lay in the middle of their living room.  Once the police arrived, 30 minutes after he called, they allowed them to go back through the house to determine what was missing. Mark found his gun cabinet had been broken into and a shotgun was laying on his bed. Mark noticed the gun was loaded and he informed the officer the gun was not loaded while in the cabinet as the ammunition was stored in a separate container. The officer casually told Mark, “Oh, that was there in case you came home”. At that exact moment Mark’s world view changed. Mark made a vow at that moment to never rely on others to protect his family or himself. Two days later the bad guys came back looking for what they did not get in the first round. The family had left the house for a few days as they were too shaken by the events. The final blow was discovering the thieves had stolen financial information and within seven days had racked up over $6000 in fraudulent charges and checks.

In addition to our firearms training we offer personal preparedness consulting so you and your family can be better prepared to face the challenges of this increasingly dangerous world.
