The Mountain Valley Sportsman’s Association, held our first Women on Target event last weekend. Forty ladies registered and showed up for the event. I was honored to present two seminars during the day on personal protection and an introduction to concealed carry. Twenty-nine of the attendees participated in pistol shooting which was hosted and presented by our IDPA shooters. All those participants attended one of the seminars.
I asked the ladies what they had learned during the day. The most popular answers were “the guns were not as scary as I thought …” and “this is a lot of fun.” These were great responses and a credit to our safety officers and presenters. This group of ladies had a great time and learned a great deal. The majority were first time shooters and those who did have experience enjoyed the time on the additional time on the range. A great response to a great event and I know more events are in the works. A big thank you to MVSA and the participating members.
