You find your self with a nagging feeling your are being followed or watched. What do you do? There are three decisive steps you need to take. You must either deter your attacker or put yourself in a position to respond to an attack.
1) Identification: Face the threat and identify them. Look them in the eye. Hands up in a non-aggressive, but firm stance and ask, What do you want?
2) Verbal: You are now preparing for an engagement. If the threat continues to close distance or responds in an aggressive manner you must now directly address the threat with a firm warning: Stop! Go Away! The police are being called! This will draw attention to your plight and take your attacker off-guard. Even if you have not had an opportunity to call the police this will cause the attacker to at least question your intent.
3) Weapon Presentation: As the encounter escalates to a point where you fully believe your are in danger of death or great bodily harm the weapon must be presented and the situation dealt with. Using a weapon is a tool of last resort and should only be used when all other means have been expended.
Be aware of your surroundings. Always have a plan to get away and be prepared to fight if you have to.
